Perenco Mexico said it has seen positive results from its recent drilling campaign at Santuario Noreste, onshore Mexico.
The latest drilling campaign, which follows successful operations since Perenco entered Mexico in 2018, saw the drilling of six new wells, including three producing wells and three dedicated water injection wells as part of of a secondary recovery project, the company said in its press release. .
Of the three producing wells, the first began in April 2023 and is currently producing about 2,300 barrels of oil per day (bpd), Perenco noted, adding that the second well, in addition to providing crucial data, reached a average production of 1,500 bpd. With additional potential to exploit, the third well is currently being ramped up from its current rate of approximately 1,300 bopd, the company said. These results have already allowed Perenco Mexico to increase production by almost 5,100 bpd, with a clear goal of further improving these figures by 2024, the company added.
In addition, Perenco said the three dedicated water injection wells have been designed to maximize the final recovery rate of the field, with additional reserves expected comparable to those of the producing wells drilled this year, albeit in a period longer
Since arriving in Mexico in 2018, initially alongside Petrofac, Perenco has tripled production at the Santuario & El Golpe permit from 5,500 bopd to 17,000 bopd. This significant increase was initially achieved from existing wells, the company said. Using artificial lift technologies, Perenco has converted seven wells to electric submersible pumps (ESP) in the Santuario Main and El Golpe fields, doubling its production since 2018.
Before the latest media advisory, Perenco said its Santuario Noreste had already experienced a three-fold increase in production in recent years thanks to the rehabilitation of existing wells, the bringing into production of more productive layers, the drilling of new wells, increasing the capacity of treatment facilities and increasing the capacity of treatment facilities. the early implementation of recovery.
“This drilling campaign demonstrates Perenco Mexico’s know-how in optimizing operations and its commitment to the sustainable growth of oil fields through innovative solutions,” said Gilles d’Argouges, CEO of Perenco Mexico.
