Seatrium New Energy, formerly Keppel FELS, has delivered its second jackup rig, named AlSila, to ADNOC Drilling, on schedule and on budget. The company said in its press release that the rig is part of a series of five rigs it had been building for Borr Drilling.
In 2022, the company announced that it had entered into an agreement with Borr Drilling to expedite the delivery of three jackup rigs to Borr Drilling (or a third party to whom Borr Drilling intends to sell the rigs). Seatrium said the construction contracts for the three rigs have been renegotiated by Borr Drilling to ADNOC Drilling.
The recently completed AlSila is the second in a series of three jackup rigs, Seatrium noted. Built to the KFELS B Class design, the AlSila is capable of operating in water depths of more than 400 feet, with the ability to drill to depths of up to 30,000 feet and deep wells both vertically and horizontally, according to Seatrium .
The platform is also equipped with an advanced and fully automated high-capacity rack and pinion lifting system, in addition to a self-positioning lashing system that has the capacity to accommodate 150 people with all comforts, said the company in its statement.
This series of jackup rigs built at Seatrium’s Pioneer Yard in Singapore are purpose-built to meet the needs of a wide range of customers, from small, independent oil companies to large multinational energy corporations, the company said.
Their arrivals have the potential to increase the efficiency and productivity of the offshore drilling industry, according to Seatrium, which said a total of nine patented legacy rigs are currently under contract for deployment in the region of ‘Middle East from 2022.
The company also said that as the industry benchmark for jackup equipment, the KFELS B Class family of designs are high-quality legacy equipment with a solid track record, having proven their robustness and efficiency in many fields around of the world over the years.
