TotalEnergies has contracted EnerMech for the maintenance of cranes and elevators at a new facility to be built in Pointe-Noire, Congo’s second largest city. According to an EnerMech media release, it is a five-year term with a price tag of $15.2 million.
The scope of work will include specific maintenance of the crane and lifting equipment, and supply of parts onshore and offshore for three offshore sectors including Likouf and Nkossa, the company said. The deal also includes stretching, mooring and tensioning systems, he added.
EnerMech also said it has established a new entity, EnerMech Congo, to carry out the work and has subcontracted a local Congolese company, Congo Services, to help with the delivery.
The company is hiring local Congolese personnel in contract ground support roles with experienced personnel from the local maintenance crew provided by the subcontractor. The new Pointe-Noire facility will benefit the area by establishing an additional durable technical offering and local employment opportunities, EnerMech noted.
EnerMech has previously worked with TotalEnergies SE on projects across the African continent and has also worked in the Congo, under contract with Technip on the Moho Nord project.
“We have a well-established relationship with TotalEnergies that goes back many years. We are very pleased that they continue to see the value of the trusted service and expertise we provide and choose EnerMech to work with them on this new project in the Congo,” said Steve Swanson, EnerMech’s Vice President for Africa.
“EnerMech has been very successful in securing new and retaining existing cranes and lifting, operations and maintenance contracts, as well as extending existing framework agreements, in various locations across Europe, Africa, the Middle East , Caspian and Asia Paul Cockerill, Regional Director Africa, Middle East and Caspian.
“This is due to many factors, including the delivery of well-thought-out execution plans, a very detailed approach to solution delivery and, more importantly, our safety culture, and our project management highly qualified, contract support engineers and project engineers who bring their own expertise and many years of industry experience,” he said.
The deal with TotalEnergies follows a similar five-year agreement the company reached with an unnamed customer in Asia, a first in the region for the company.
