A young man has been arrested in Manchester this week in connection with a crash involving a stolen car.
According to the Manchester Police Department, officers were dispatched to the area of Hilliard Street and Electric Street Monday afternoon for a report of a motor vehicle collision involving a stolen car in Newington and suspects who fled the scene.
Police said three suspects fled the vehicle involved and headed north on Electric Street on foot. Officers set up a perimeter in the area, and as they did so, three men were seen walking through a nearby wooded area. The suspects fled at the sight of a police officer, police said.
According to police, Officer Danielle Hebert and K-9 Enzo began tracking the suspects and found one of them in an alley. The suspect, identified as a juvenile, was taken into custody without incident, police said. He was reportedly found with a key fob from the vehicle that was reported stolen in Newington.
Manchester Police said the young man has been identified as a “known offender with previous arrests relating to stolen motor vehicles and a kidnapping charge”.
“In addition, this individual has been associated with criminal activity involving firearms and has been suspected of multiple motor vehicle thefts,” Manchester Police Lt. Ryan Shea said in a statement.
The investigation into the case is still ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Manchester Police at 860-645-5500.
