In a recent incident, thieves attacked the premises of Kirloskar Oil Engine Company in Khadki and stole a stump of sandalwood tree. A case has been registered against the perpetrators involved in this robbery. Ramesh Chavan, a 54-year-old assistant security officer of the Kirloskar Oil Engine Limited Company, lodged a complaint at the Khadki police station, highlighting the incident. The thieves gained unauthorized entry into the company’s premises and cut the stump of a sandalwood tree.
Sachin Inamdar, the investigating police officer, is investigating the matter. Over the past few months, there has been an alarming rise in incidents involving the felling of sandalwood trees in government offices and private institutions in the city. Last month, the police successfully arrested a group of thieves who were caught cutting sandalwood trees from the Raj Bhavan premises.
The theft of sandalwood trees has become a recurring theme, causing alarm among the authorities and the public. Known for its aromatic properties and high market value, sandalwood has become a target for criminals looking for illicit gains.
