STOCKHOLM — Volvo Car said Monday that car sales rose 31 percent year-on-year in May, after figures for the same month last year were weighed down by lower production due to production constraints. the supply chain.
The Swedish carmaker, majority owned by Chinese group Zhejiang Geely Holding, sold 60,398 cars in May, up from 45,952 in the same month last year.
In Europe, sales rose 40% to 26,272 cars, while sales in China rose 49% to 14,121 cars. The company reported a 14% increase in sales in the US to 10,723 cars.
Volvo’s plug-in range of fully electric or plug-in hybrid models accounted for 40% of all Volvo cars sold worldwide. All-electric models accounted for 18 percent of global sales, the company said.
