We’re not likely to see this wave of EV recalls go away anytime soon, but that’s the nature of the situation. New cars bring new problems.

General Motors has announced the recall of two of its latest electric vehicles (EVs). The GMC Hummer EV and Cadillac Lyriq electric crossover may experience possible power loss due to battery connection issues.
GM is recalling some 2022 GMC Hummer electric vehicles and some 2023 Cadillac Lyriq SUVs. The company says there may be a problem with various connections in the electric vehicles’ high-voltage battery packs.
The connections could be misplaced or well poorly soldered, which could result in a loss of power. Because there is a possibility of power loss, it is considered a safety issue by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and must be addressed.
Fortunately, it appears that the company is only aware of five electric vehicles that are affected by this recall. GM dealers will completely replace the high-voltage battery packs in affected vehicles, free of charge.
Owners should expect a letter in the mail postmarked July 10, 2023. However, they may also be notified earlier by other means. In the meantime, GM says to contact Cadillac and/or Hummer EV customer service. Be sure to check the recall with the following number: N232404441.
You can also contact NHTSA for more details by calling them Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 or by visiting the website. NHTSA issued the recall on May 25, 2023. It uses campaign number 23V367000. On the website, you can search for the recall by campaign number or enter your EV’s VIN to see if the recall affects your vehicle.
Some people might be worried because we’re seeing so many memories lately. This is probably because many new cars are electrified or all-electric, and even many new gas cars tend to use a lot of cutting-edge technology.
As automakers make the switch to new powertrains and technology, there are sure to be recalls. However, they are temporary, and the most important thing is to fix these cars and make sure that future models do not have the same problems.
