A car jumped off a tow truck ramp onto a Georgia highway, flew through the air and landed last week, and the whole thing was caught on video.
The wild scene unfolded as the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office assisted the Georgia State Patrol last Wednesday on a highway, according to the sheriff’s office.
The two sides of the freeway are separated by a grass median, and a flatbed trailer truck was parked on the opposite side of the road with the ramp down.
A sheriff’s deputy wear a body camera was walking toward the crane when an apparently distracted driver sped down the ramp.
The car jumped through a barrier at the back of the ramp and collided with the crane cab as it became airborne.
Seconds before the car accelerated down the ramp, a person is seen on the body camera video walking in front of the crane. The person reached the edge of the freeway when the car is seen flying behind them.
The car landed on the passenger side and overturned, hitting another car in the opposite lane, according to CBS affiliate WCTV.
The first car eventually stopped on the right as smoke rose from the wreck.
The driver, identified as a 21-year-old woman from Tallahassee, Florida, survived the crash but suffered serious injuries, WCTV reported.
