Harley-Davidson has officially revealed its next motorcycle, the Harley-Davidson X440 in India. This is the first motorcycle to be launched under the new partnership between Hero Motocorp and Harley-Davidson.
Earlier, Hero Motocorp also shared images of this motorcycle. Looking at the images of the Harley-Davidson X440, the motorcycle looks very premium and is likely to be positioned above the Honda CB350 range of motorcycles.
Talking about looks, the upcoming Harley-Davidson X440 motorcycle looks quite good with its muscular fuel tank and sleek looking rear section. In addition, round elements such as the headlights, turn signals and instrument panel give the motorcycle a retro vibe.
These images also reveal that the upcoming Harley-Davidson X440 motorcycle will include features such as USD forks at the front, dual gas shock absorbers at the rear, LED headlights with LED DRLs, circular TFT instrument panel, front disc brakes and later , flat handlebars and more.
That said, the riding position of the upcoming Harley-Davidson X440 motorcycle looks neutral and the motorcycle uses 18-inch wheels at the front and 17-inch wheels at the rear. This means that the motorcycle will be very comfortable both during city trips and the occasional weekend trip.
As for the powertrain, the Harley-Davidson X440 motorcycle will have an oil-cooled 440cc single-cylinder engine. We expect this powertrain to produce plenty of torque and decent power figures as well. In addition, we expect to see a 6-speed transmission as well.
Since India is a very price-sensitive market, we expect Harley-Davidson to price the X440 quite aggressively at around Rs 2.75 lakh. This is very possible as Hero Motocorp handles the entire manufacturing of this motorcycle.
Also, we expect the upcoming Harley-Davidson X440 motorcycle to come with features like Bluetooth connectivity, multiple riding modes, telemetry data and a dedicated app to justify its premium positioning.
Thoughts on the upcoming Harley-Davidson X440 motorcycle
We expect the upcoming India-made Harley-Davidson X440 motorcycle to be priced higher compared to the Honda CB350RS and the Royal Enfield Classic 350 at around Rs 2.75 lakh. We also expect the bike maker to launch the motorcycle before the upcoming festive season.
