You may or may not be aware of it, but Robert Downey Jr. he’s a bit of a car collector. However, as the founder of the Footprint Coalition saving the planet in 2019, his collection made him feel a bit hypocritical. So now he’s modifying the classic vehicles into a new original MAX called “Downy’s Dream Cars” to make them greener.
“We are what we drive, and having amassed a formidable collection of classic cars over the years, it was a mess on gas,” the actor said. “The past three years have been an experiment in hope as I engaged the best and brightest minds to evaluate, educate, elevate and decarbonize these vehicles in a way that demonstrates the limitless potential of creative problem solving “.
According to the studio behind the show, Downey is “taking his old cars into the future” and will make them “faster, more powerful and more efficient, while keeping their soul intact.”

Although electromodding has become quite popular lately, the comment about keeping their souls intact suggests that it won’t be the only method used here. Based on the first trailer for Downey’s Dream Cars, the cars featured in the show may not be fully electric.
“Imagine if somebody walks up to me and says, ‘Hey, bro.’ Your [Buick Riviera] Is the original Nailhead still around? Sorry dude, it’s a hybrid,” he says in the trailer.
In another scene, he can be seen suggesting that a vehicle will be converted to run on biodiesel. While it won’t be all-electric, Downey is no stranger to the technology, having been the spokesperson for Audi when it launched the e-tron GT.
We’ll find out exactly what the actor is up to when Downey’s Dream Cars opens on June 22. On that date, MAX, which is the new combined streaming service of HBO Max and Discovery+, will release the first two episodes, with more debuts each. Thursday until July 6.
