Chevron announced that its Delo 600 ADF 10W-30 and Delo 600 ADF 15W-40 heavy-duty motor oils are approved for use in Cummins natural gas mobile engines.
Delo 600 ADF 10W-30 and Delo 600 ADF 15W-40 were introduced in 2019, offering the first diesel engine oils formulated with Omnimax, a patented ultra-low ash technology designed to solve the problem of pack ash build-up of motor oil additives. in diesel particulate filters (DPF).
Cummins’ approval process requires two years of field testing on Cummins engines sold in the highway market, followed by engine disassembly and inspection by Cummins. After putting the Delo 600 ADF through this rigorous process, Chevron has received approval for the oil to be used in Cummins natural gas engines and is CES 20092 registered.
Chevron said Delo 600 ADF products have been shown to help improve fuel economy retention, reduce forced regenerations and reduce downtime required to properly maintain and remove ash from units.
“Shortly after launching Delo 600 ADF, we saw that these products naturally align with the Cummins CES 20092 specification for mobile natural gas engine oils,” said Shawn Whitacre, Chevron Senior Engineer. “We are excited to be able to offer fleet operators a unique oil for both diesel and natural gas vehicles.”
Whitacre said having a single oil for both diesel and natural gas vehicles should make life easier for fleet operators. With the upcoming release of Cummins’ CNG-powered 15L engine, it’s already listening to long-haul operators looking for a single-oil solution for their mixed fleet.
