Mumbai: ExxonMobil is investing close to Rs 900 crore ($110 million) to build a lubricants manufacturing plant at the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation’s Isambe Industrial Area in Raigad, the company said. Once operational, the plant will have the capacity to manufacture 159,000 kl. of finished lubricants annually to meet growing domestic demand from industrial sectors such as manufacturing, steel, power, mining and construction, as well as commercial and passenger vehicle segments. It is expected to be operational by the end of 2025.

In a significant boost to the ‘Make in India’ initiative, the plant will locally source a larger portion of base stocks, additives and all packaging. Nearly 1,200 jobs are expected to be created during the construction phase.

ExxonMobil’s comprehensive range of Mobil brand oils, greases and motor lubricants, a global leader in lubrication technology, has been advancing energy efficiency, productivity and sustainability for the automotive industries for decades and industry in India. The company is also a major supplier of liquefied natural gas in India and its chemicals are widely used in Indian manufacturing.
