Surveillance video captured the moment more than a dozen thieves used a suspected stolen vehicle to crash into a camera and electronics store in Riverside County and make off with thousands of dollars in merchandise.
The incident happened shortly before 6 a.m. on April 17 at Mac Star Cameras & Electronics in Corona, according to store management.
In the video, the vehicle’s engine can be heard revving just as the front of the store crashes inward. The driver of the vehicle then pulls forward and reverses again, crashing further into the store, causing the corrugated security door to hit the wall shelves.
Moments later, robbers enter and begin ransacking the store, many of them with flashlights on their heads. The smash and grab crew isn’t discouraged when the store’s alarm system goes off and the lights come on. They continue to systematically steal as many things as possible and bring them to the front of the store.
At the end of the dramatic video, the last person in the store is putting items into a plastic garbage bag, moving around the counters and toward the front of the store when the weight of the stolen merchandise causes them to fall with quite right before. leaving the scene.
In just three minutes, the robbery crew made off with about $65,000 worth of merchandise and left the stolen vehicle used to break in, the store manager told KTLA, adding that this is the seventh time the camera and electronics establishment has been robbed. in the two years it has been open. No arrests have been made in either case.
Regarding this recent robbery, store officials filled out a police report and said the only thing the robbers left in the car was an ID and a cell phone, which police tested .
A similar robbery occurred Thursday morning in Burbank in which at least 10 people used a truck to break into a high-end store and steal about $70,000 worth of merchandise.
KTLA has reached out to the Corona Police Department for comment on the incident, but has not yet heard back.
