A Williams High School student was rushed to the hospital Friday after they were riding a bicycle and were hit by a car.
The crash happened between Edgewood Avenue and Longmeadow Street near Route 5, Longmeadow Police Capt. Carl Mazzaferro said. The accident occurred before 8.15 am

The student, who has not been identified, was treated for injuries not considered life-threatening, Mazzaferro said. Traffic approaching the intersection was detoured until the student was removed, during which time police allowed cars to pass, Mazzaferro added.
Several police cars were at the scene of the crash, along with an ambulance stopped by Fletcher’s BBQ and Steakhouse, a source told MassLive. A bicycle was visible on the nearby grass.

Police notified Williams Middle School that a student was hit by a car, Mazzaferro said.
The crash is under investigation, Mazzaferro said. No other information was immediately available.
