Loved ones gathered Monday to remember Shalia Hendrix, who was found shot to death in her car on Route 702 in Essex. “I never would have expected anything like this to happen to him, of all people,” said Shatira Nicholson, a friend of Hendrix’s. He died in hospital. Friends said Hendrix was a mother of three. “I started crying right away because I have kids. I can’t imagine leaving my kids. I would never have left my kids, so it’s a lot. It’s hard,” Williams said. Friends set up a memorial at the scene of the accident. They want people to remember Hendrix, known as ‘Lia,’ as they knew her.” He had many talents. He never bothered anyone. All he liked to do was hang out with his girls, eat crabs, and ( i) dance.” said Nicholson. They said their friend had the biggest smile and will not be forgotten. “Just praying that justice is done for my friend,” Williams said. Investigators are still trying to determine what led to the shooting.
