Automotive supervisor Dennis McCarthy shows off the new cars and motorcycles that will be introduced throughout quick x. McCarthy is one of the most important people The fast and the furious franchise He is responsible for building and modifying the cars and motorcycles that often steal the limelight Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift. A big part of McCarthy’s job is not only making sure the cars work for the stunts, but also the characters and the story itself. Considering the color, model and modifications and what each element of the vehicle says about the person driving it.
McCarthy estimates that 700 to 800 cars are used quick x, but for the cars they’ve built in the shop, they’re roughly between 250 and 300. He also explains that since they’re shooting out of order, they’ll have to damage a car to accommodate the consequences of a stunt and spend the night fixing it for the next day. McCarthy gave Screen Ranttogether with other media, a tour of their garage, showing the new vehicles that will be in the spotlight for quick x while sharing information about the car itself and the characters driving it.

Dante’s Harley-Davidson Panamericana
The first vehicles shown by McCarthy will appear in Act 1 of quick x which will take place in Rome. McCarthy started with the Harley-Davidson Panamericana that Dante (Jason Momoa) will ride. This is a scaled-down version of the Harley-Davidson Pan American with McCarthy removing everything that wasn’t necessary, including the windshield, dash, turn signals and more, all in the name of speed. He also explained why this was the perfect bike for Momoa.
“Jason Mamoa is also a huge Harley-Davidson fan. So it all really ties together. It doesn’t really take away from what Jason does on a daily basis. Such a perfect bike for the character, played to perfection, an absolute blast of ride..”
Letty’s Honda
Next is Letty’s Honda, which is also very stripped down with smaller tires. This gave him the ability to perform impressive stunts and tricks. And while Letty has ridden Harley-Davidsons in the past, they were more than “rebellious“Styling. It was built by Alex King, a friend of McCarthy’s. McCarthy explains the styling they do with Letty’s bikes.
“Several times I’ve tried to give it a kind of period, a cool kind of vibe. We don’t want to just leave Letty as a showroom production model. It’s more of a motocross.”
Dom’s 2022 Charger SRT Hellcat
Dom is known for his love of the Chargers and that trend will continue quick x with the Charger SRT Hellcat. These are cars that McCarthy and his team have struggled to find ways to improve over the years because they look good the way they are. He revealed some of the changes the new model has, including a narrower grille, a slightly different spoiler and a wide body that McCarthy believes is a big improvement. McCarthy teases some of the stunts Dom will perform in the Charger.”The car does everything you can imagine, going backwards, hitting all kinds of crazy objects that I won’t give away.McCarthy detailed the changes they made to the Charger to make it fit quick x both in style and practical use.
“This is the best of the best when it comes to Dodge Chargers. The only deviation we made was the Whipple supercharger, which we tried to tie into the shaker hood Dodge thing. So it’s like a shaker hood, but with a slightly more mechanical aspect.
We always present the car as a six-speed, which we have built in the past. This particular one is not. It’s a lot of work to convert one of these into a six-speed. I’ve asked Dodge several times, “Hey, let’s make a Charger with a six-speed.” I don’t think I’ll ever get that wish, but when we have to, we build our own. Dodge is always there to support us and give us everything we need to make this happen.”
Han’s Alfa Romeo
Even if that’s not what The fast and the furious Fans would expect McCarthy to share that this car was chosen because of the environment. Driving in Rome means navigating narrow streets and the Alfa Romeo fits the bill as well as an Italian car. He praises the car’s agility, which the characters will also talk about quick x. McCarthy also shares why he thinks this car works for Han.
“The color is what really ties it to Han’s character, but I think it does everything. It’s just his style. Usually, you imagine a Japanese car, something JDM-style, but I think when a Roma this is the car for Han. here.”
Roman’s Lamborghini
Contrasted with Han’s car, Roman’s gold Lamborghini. McCarthy describes it this way: “pure romanMcCarthy reveals, “At first it seems like the wrong choice. But at the end of the day, Roman makes some moves and the end of the car is really an advantage in the sequence.” And although this is the final key vehicle of quick x Act 1 McCarthy showed us that there will be a whole lot more in the movie.
“There’s just cars coming out of everywhere. There’s trucks. There’s everything, everything you can imagine, but those are really the key vehicles to focus on and act in a way when you’re watching Fast X.”
Isabel’s Datsun 240Z
Coming from Rome, McCarthy showed off three of the four cars that will be part of the four-car drag race. Starting with the yellow Datsun 240Z driven by Isabel (Daniela Melchior). McCarthy explained that it’s important to have a variety of cars, not just imports and muscle cars, so they can tailor the car to the character. McCarthy also revealed that Sung, a car guy in his own right, plans to build this car the way it’s depicted in the film because the actual car doesn’t quite fit the specs described in quick x. McCarthy shares information about the car and its driver.
“This one, when you watch the movie, there’s some dialogue about it. This car is driven by Isabel. Isabel is a new character. She’s actually Elena’s sister. [Elsa Pataky]the woman Dom married going all the way back to Fat V and with whom he had little B. So there’s a definite family connection to this car and to Dom here.
So this car, when you see the movie, describes the engine. It’s an RV26, basically like a GTR Skyline engine that’s been transplanted into the 240. We actually have a small-block 350cc Chevy.”
Dante’s Impala
McCarthy explains that this car is a perfect fit for Momoa and his character, partly because of how much they discussed it. He reveals that Momoa was “very particular” about including the color, which is based on his wardrobe. They worked hard to match the color with McCarthy matching it to Momoa’s nail color on Facetime. Momoa also wanted the car to be big, fast and with big tires. He describes Momoa as an asset to the franchise and reveals that this car was a last-minute change during production.
“This car has a 540-inch big block under the hood. This car was actually bought. A lot of times things change as we go through production. This car was one of those last-minute changes. In fact , I found this car again. East, and it really was an existing race car. So that’s why it looks like that. But it really makes this whole race better to have something like this.”
Dom’s 1970 charger
Now, the most iconic car in the entire franchise, Dom’s Charger. This will go head-to-head with Dante’s Impala, which McCarthy found particularly fun as the classic Chevy vs Dodge. McCarthy also scoffs: “A lot happens in this race. There are many decisions that Dom must make throughout this race. Right on the line of winning the race or doing the right thing.McCarthy also reveals this with this being quick x wanted to bring it back to the heart of how this car was presented after so many insanely insane stunts centered around Chargers. Although this is clearly a Full throttle Style Charger at a Glance McCarthy details the impressive work they did on it.
“The thing that deviates from this is that we only retrofit the supercharger with the Whipple unit, the bug receiver is made of carbon fiber. Not as old as the BDS, which I love. The wheels were a long process that HRE was kind enough to help me out. I wanted something that looked vintage, a five-spoke design. You have to have an 18” wheel to clear the big brakes, and they’re a necessity with the stunts we do and all the rest Rebel’s been making us a brake package for years, but it’s a six-piston front caliper and dual rear caliper, so you’ve got a sliding break that will never fail you.
But anyway, as always, the Charger is the most loved car in my shop. [We] Always put the most effort, the most time into these. I think we built 14 of them in this movie, 10 of them around that level. This car is the real hero car. I always apologize when we get to this point after the car has been shot, used and abused. So you see marks, scratches, cracks, repairs, that’s it. But it’s this car that’s the hero car, what’s really significant, this car has a six-speed manual transmission with a sequential shift, which I think is a great image, kind of Ken Block where you have a stick shifter, you have a digital readout and I think it really adds to the chase sequence. There’s nothing exciting about starting a car, but there’s something exciting about a clutch pedal and hitting a gear lever.”
Tess’s 2023 Nissan Z
This was a no-brainer for McCarthy because Brie Larson, who plays Tess, is a spokeswoman for Nissan. The car was not available when they initially started work quick x, but when Larson came on board and the script was written, they were able to put the car right under the wire. He explains that while they didn’t make many changes, there are some tweaks and teases more in the future.
“Not much [was] necessary because it is a very nice car. It’s a fun car. I had the pleasure of driving one for a few months a little while ago. Basically we just put some HRE wheels on it, a little wider. This one doesn’t represent it, but we’ve scaled it down enough to make it look good. But very cool cars. And I know for sure that they will appear again in the next one.”
