Elkins Park Fire Company Squad 3 was dispatched to a vehicle fire in the area of Oak Lane Road and Cheltenham Avenue at 2:48 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10.
The team arrived to find a black Lexus on fire. Crews used powder fire extinguishers to prevent the spread of gasoline, water and dry oil flames.
An engine from the Philadelphia Fire Department attended. Public Works was called to attend to any substance from the incident that may have entered the storm sewer network.
According to the company’s Facebook post, the cause of the fire was a fuel leak. The driver was safely out of the vehicle before firefighters arrived.
