We lost the Chevrolet Bolt last month. The death had been on the horizon it’s been a while, but it was still a shock. The Bolt was the confusingly called an affordable small EV we didn’t deserve—and very few people wanted.
In case you missed it:
Of couse, these batteries the fires didn’t help — a problem faced by many electric car manufacturers. Neither is the growth of giant trucks, which everyone makes feel the need to buy even bigger vehicles to be safe around all those big trucks.
It’s hard to say there is one bad car on the market today, although a shout out to the Mitsubishi Mirage to get closer But there are some vehicles on the market right now that we don’t need. Some who should have died long ago and some who should never have been born.
For me, the Hummer EV is second. This is a vehicle that uniquely exemplifies everything that is wrong with the auto industry today. It’s a 9,000-pound vehicle that can go from 0-60 in 3.5 seconds. But since it’s 9,000 pounds, It sure can’t be stopped in that same amount of time. Because the giant electric vehicle is “performance oriented,” it produces so much CO2 as Chevy Malibu, just above. And does this look like an engineered vehicle, let alone crash tested? pedestrian safety on anyone’s mind?
The Hummer EV will turn people into goo in crashes. Something so heavy, fast, dangerous and wasteful simply shouldn’t exist.
And you? Which cars would you drop from the automaker’s lineup? Does Chevy have a few boring CUVs around? Ram trucks too… well, Ram trucky? Let us know in the comments.
