NEO Energy has donated £20,000 to AberNecessities, an Aberdeen-based charity supporting disadvantaged children in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.
NEO said it chose the charity as it aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goal of good health and well-being selected by the company. The donation will go towards providing 150 beds for local children.
Founded in 2019, AberNecessities has grown rapidly due to the sudden onset of the Covid-19 pandemic and the cost of living crisis, which prevents low-income families from being able to provide for their children in the way what would they like NEO noted in a company statement.
“We are very grateful to NEO for their continued support and this generous donation comes at an important time when we are working hard to help families who are struggling to provide their children with the basic essentials as well as pay their increasing bills big”. AberNecessities founder Danielle Flecher-Horn commented.
“The stark reality is that child poverty has become a widespread problem across the UK. Currently, one in five children in Aberdeen City and County grows up in this situation, but child poverty is more than a statistic; it’s an exhausting experience for every baby, toddler, young person and parent who goes through it,” she said.
“This year, we will support more than 10,000 children, and we can only do this thanks to our generous corporate and private supporters. Every day we receive calls from parents who are in desperate need, and the support we can offer gives them back a sense of security and dignity. The cost of living crisis is not going away. Inflation continues to hurt everyone every day. The poorest in our society suffer the most, and we are extremely proud to be able to help alleviate some of that suffering, through generosity from companies like NEO Energy and local people, Flecher-Horn said.
“We are proud to have partnered with AberNecessities to support our local communities both financially and through volunteering opportunities. The charity was selected by NEO’s Charity Committee demonstrating NEO’s commitment to play active role in the community and exemplifies the generous spirit of our employees. We believe it is essential for local businesses like NEO to support charities like AberNecessities, who work tirelessly to help disadvantaged families and children in the our community. Witnessing their dedication and passion is both humbling and inspiring,” commented Paul Harris, CEO of NEO Energy.
NEO Energy also recently sponsored Run Balmoral’s Devil of Deeside and gave AberNecessities the advertising space, with the charity thanking all runners for their donations.
