The Agência Nacional de Petróleo d’Angola, Gas e Biocombustíveis (ANPG), Sonangol Pesquisa e Produção and the diversified energy subsidiary TotalEnergies EP Angola have signed a head of agreement related to the future development of the Cameia and Golfinho fields, located in blocks 20 and 21 of the Kwanza basin.
This is an important milestone towards a final investment decision (FID), which is expected this year, after approval by partners and authorities, TotalEnergies said on May 3.
The future development project for Blocks 20 and 21, located about 150 km southwest of Luanda, will include a floating production storage and offloading facility, TotalEnergies’ seventh in Angola, connected to a subsea grid.
The design of this new project includes electricity generation from a combined cycle turbine and a zero flaring concept, which allows for lower carbon intensity, the company said.
“With our partners, we are working to make possible this first offshore development project in the Kwanza Basin, which will allow us to bring the Cameia and Golfinho discoveries into production and add more value to the new national energy resources,” said the president exploration and production of TotalEnergies. Nicolas Terraz.
“This agreement should allow the first production in the Kwanza maritime area and can contribute decisively to the national production goals,” said the president of the ANPG. Paulo Jerónimo.
“Its potential may generate interest from other operators, including the initiation of other developments in the Kwanza Basin,” he added.
“Today we have reached an important milestone. We want Blocks 20 and 21 to start producing, and we are proposing an FID this year and allowing the Kwanza offshore basin to start production soon,” the Sonangol president said. Gaspar Martins.
TotalEnergies EP Angola, which is also the operator, has an 80% stake in each block, while Sonangol Pesquisa e Produção has the remaining 20%.
