The Energy Industries Council, an energy industry trade association, has elected Andy Cuniah, supply chain manager at Bechtel Limited, as its new president. The appointment comes off the back of the EIC receiving the King’s Award for Business: International Trade.
EIC said that in his new role, Cuniah will work to achieve the Council’s goal of helping member companies export, diversify and grow at a time of transition and global Net Zero talks.
“I am excited about the opportunities we have for the EIC,” commented Cuniah. “The EIC has always had bold ambition, and I look forward to working with our member companies to deliver on our three pillars: Export, Diversify and Grow. This is more important than ever at a time of global Net Zero and transition. conversation”.
“With offices in Rio, Houston, Kuala Lumpur, Dubai and London busier than ever, with the deployment of more countries and areas in the EICSupplyMap database of supply chain companies, the organization continues to grow and represent members at all levels and regions,” he continued. “I would like to thank Hugh Saville, my predecessor, who has guided the EIC through COVID, the most recent global lockdowns and disruptions” .
Commenting on his successor, outgoing chairman Hugh Saville expressed his confidence that Andy Cuniah’s experience and leadership will help the EIC continue its vital work in supporting the supply chain interests of the energy industry and promote energy companies worldwide.
“I would also like to thank the entire EIC team and our members for their support and efforts during my time as President. It has been an honor to serve this organization and work to advance the interests of the energy industry supply chain,” Saville added.

Founded in 1943 by 13 British oilfield equipment manufacturers, the EIC has expanded its focus to cover the entire energy sector, including renewables, nuclear, hydrogen, carbon capture, power and oil and gas.
As the statement says, EIC was one of 148 companies to receive the King’s Award in Business 2023. EIC has received the King’s Award in Business: International Trade, in recognition of its contribution to UK exports. The EIC was selected for the award in recognition of its global growth and work to support its members in expanding their international businesses.
Speaking of expansion, EIC has also recently expanded its operations in Saudi Arabia with the appointment of Yousef Albayyat as Membership Manager based in Saudi Arabia. The expansion reflects EIC’s commitment to the region and the high level of activity seen in Saudi Arabia.
Prior to the appointment of Albayyat, based in Al Khobar, Damman in the Eastern Province, the EIC served its Saudi-based members from its regional headquarters in Dubai.
