People’s Bank’s ‘Mahajana Mehevara’ Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program facilitated the completion of a series of essential renovation works at the De Soysa Maternity Hospital, Borella at a cost of over Rs. 3 million
The renovation works included painting more than 120 beds in the pavilions, repairing the roof, color washing the corridors and wards and installing illuminated signage in the corridors. In addition, the bank handed over essential equipment to the hospital.
Present at the ceremony at the De Soysa Maternity Hospital to mark the completion of the project were People’s Bank President Sujeewa Rajapakse, Acting CEO/CEO Clive Fonseka, the Director of the De Soysa Maternity Hospital , Dr. Pradeep Wijesinghe, Deputy Managing Director of the People’s Bank. (Banking Support Services) Nipunika Wijerathna, Head of Marketing Nalaka Wijayawardana, Regional Manager Colombo South MS Kanakka Hewage, City Council Branch Manager Tiral Pradeep, Administrative Officer De Soysa Hospital HPKP Kumari, Chief Officer of Special Grade Nursing WDPA Jeewandara and Ward Sister Chamila Ranathunga and hospital staff.
People’s Bank is committed to supporting Sri Lankans in the healthcare sector and last year had donated over ten million rupees worth of essential medicines and equipment to Castle Street Hospital for Women and Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children.
The People’s Bank also donated three portable ultrasound scanners worth over Rs. 10 million to treat patients infected by Covid-19, at the national hospitals in Colombo and Kandy and at the Jaffna Teaching Hospital.
