Delivered new to Wayne Akers Ford in Lake Worth, Florida, this Mustang Sportsroof model was extensively restored in the 1990s, which included being recoated in its factory Lime Metallic livery, and has remained in mint condition ever since. . Riding on a set of 14-inch body-colored steel wheels wrapped in period-correct white-lettered Goodyear Polyglas tires, Mustang sport chrome bumpers, tinted racing mirrors, sport slats and a rear spoiler matte black Trimmed in White Rhino vinyl, the car’s interior features belt-mounted front bucket seats, an AM radio, a Hurst shifter, a two-spoke steering wheel, a 120 mph speedometer, and a five-digit odometer that displays approx. 47,000 miles, although the vehicle’s total mileage is unknown.
Powered by a shaker hood scoop and four-barrel carb setup, the car’s engine consists of a 428 ci (7.0 liter) Super Cobra Jet V8 that comes with a close-ratio four-speed manual transmission and Traction-Lok rear end with 3.91:1 gearing. Also of note is the fact that this 1970 example was also fitted with Ford’s new Drag Pack, which included items such as a remote-mounted oil cooler and a higher-ratio rear axle gear. Other highlights include a front sway bar, dual exhaust outlets that exit below the rear bumper, a trunk-mounted full-size spare, and unassisted drum brakes on all four corners.
