AURORA, Colo. (KDVR) — It seems like everything is automated these days, from ATMs to automatic car washes. But what if something goes wrong? How do you protect your property and your money?
Rhonda Marshall sent this question to the FOX31 Troubleshooters after her rearview mirror was damaged at the Cobblestone Car Wash near 38th Street and Tower Road in Aurora.
“It’s part of the car you have to drive, so it was annoying. But I’m thinking they’ll take care of it,” Marshall said.
Marshall quickly completed the claims process, but was frustrated when he learned his repair bill wouldn’t be covered, even though he made a video showing a broken piece of equipment clearly causing the damage.
“You can’t argue with that,” Marshall said.
Two other drivers who pulled into the car wash after Marshall made similar complaints, but all told FOX31 they had no calls or messages returned.
Troubleshooters contacted them and Cobblestone Car Wash’s corporate office in Scottsdale, Arizona and requested an investigation.
A company spokesman said the corporate office was not aware of the incident and found that site management did not handle the issue properly. Cobblestone acted immediately to correct the mistake, reaching out to Marshall with a personal call.
“If you hadn’t reached out to them and put them in touch with us, we’d still be dealing with this,” said Marshall, who was happy to hear from a senior executive.
Know the damage policy for any service
Consumers should make sure they understand the damages policy before using any service. If damage occurs, be sure to document it with pictures and videos and file a claim immediately.
Companies are not responsible for damage to parts that are already loose and also use pictures and videos to document what happens on their property.
