ONTARIO ― A Cincinnati company wants to build a new full-service car wash in the Menards/Furniture Row parking lot off Walker Lake Road, according to a zoning application filed Monday with the Ontario Zoning Office .
According to zoning inspector Michael Morton, the Ontario Planning Commission will hear an application for a conditional use permit and a request for final site plan approval for Ultimate Shine Car Wash at 4:00 p.m. May 10 at Ontario City Hall, 555 Stumbo Road.
Wild Partners has an option to purchase a 1.5-acre property for development of the car wash facility at the southwest corner of Walker Lake Road and the Menards/Furniture Row drive-in at traffic light.
Wild Partners and Ultimate Shine are proposing to build an “express under roof” car wash facility consisting of a 14,500 square foot building. The interior of the building features a 136-foot wash tunnel, employee offices, restroom, break room, mechanical rooms, equipment room, a supply warehouse, and an interior detail area that includes 16 empty interior spaces, according to the definitive and conditional plan. use the supporting document.
Six exterior parking spaces are provided for the project, the developers said in documents obtained by the News Journal in a public records request.
Besides the BellStores car wash north of the site, this is the only full-service car wash in the commercial corridor along Walker Lake Road, according to applicant Robert C. Sweet, McBride Dale Clarion.
“Our team feels that the proposed development is a great addition to the area. The project provides a well-designed site and its construction is appropriate for the 1.5 +/- acre site. The proposed use provides a service not only to Ontario residents, but to customers in the region who patronize neighboring businesses,” the developer stated in filings with Ontario’s zoning office.
In March, the planning commission accepted plans to build the Culver’s restaurant across from Meijer’s near the BellStores gas station at 1364 N. Lexington-Springmill Road.
A new GetGo station, planned for 979 N. Lexington-Springmill Road, got the green light from the Ontario Planning Commission in December 2022 on a conditional zoning application for the new business. The gas station and convenience store are being built on the former site of the recently closed Cheddar’s restaurant.
