On Wednesday, the police arraigned a 41-year-old man, Kingsley Kina, before a Lagos State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ojo for allegedly stealing 70 cartons of motor oil worth N2m.
Kina, whose address was not given, faces a two-count charge limiting conspiracy and robbery preferred against him by police.
The prosecutor, Inspector A. Esther, told the court that the accused committed the offense at the Aspamda Exhibition Complex, Lagos.
The prosecutor said the accused conspired with others who are at large to steal 40 cartons of canal motor oil and 30 cartons of Sharlu motor oil valued at N2m, owned by Kellyson Incorporation company.
He said the incident took place between March and April 14, 2023 at about 9am, at the Aspamda Exhibition Complex, Lagos.
According to her, the offense committed contravened Sections 411,280 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
However, the accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Magistrate Docars Odukoya granted the accused bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum. The case was adjourned until May 16 for trial.
