“Firefighters were alerted to the crash at 10:45pm last night by Lakeville Fire Alarm. Dispatchers reported multiple 911 calls.
Rescuers arrived and found 3 of the 4 occupants of the vehicle self-extricated. The car had collided with trees when leaving the road.
The remaining occupant of the vehicle was extricated by firefighters using hydraulic tools (also known as the jaws of life).
A total of 4 patients were taken to hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening. Lakeville Ambulances transported 2 patients to St. Lukes, a Freetown ambulance transported a patient to Hasbro Children’s and a Berkley ambulance transported a patient to Hasbro Children’s.
Lakeville Fire Department response included Ambulance 2, Ambulance 3, Engine 1, Engine 2, Car 1 and Car 2.
Chief O’Brien wants to praise the performance of the firefighters who responded. With a complement of 3 firefighters on duty, this operation was only possible with the help of off-duty and on-call firefighters.
The Chief would like to thank the Berkley and Freetown Fire Departments for their assistance.” – Lakeville Fire Department.
