HILLSBOROUGH, NC (WNCN) – Ten vehicles are involved in three separate crashes within a couple of miles of Interstate 40 in Orange County Sunday afternoon, officials said.
The three crashes were reported shortly after 3 p.m. and span from mile marker 263 to mile marker 261 on I-40, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
There were no serious injuries in either of the wrecks, which happened south of Hillsborough.
One crash involved six vehicles while a second involved a BMW and a Mercedes, the highway patrol said. A third crash involved two gray SUVs.
Earlier, westbound I-40 was closed at NC 86, according to NCDOT. The right lane of I-40 west at mile marker 263 was also closed earlier.
Eastbound I-40 at Old NC 86/mile marker 261 is now closed.
It appears that some traffic is taking NC 86 through the affected area.
