Interstate 84 West is closed in Southington due to a car rollover accident, according to the CT Department of Transportation.
The westbound side of the freeway is closed in the area of exit 31. I-84 East was also closed in the area of exit 28, but has since reopened.
Connecticut State Police said serious injuries are being reported. Drivers are asked to take alternate routes.
Traffic in the area is reduced for several kilometers. It is unknown when the highway will reopen.
The accident was reported around 4:30 p.m. DOT officials have been called in to assist with traffic.
The State Police Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating. No additional information was immediately available.
