Mumbai: ExxonMobil is investing close to Rs 900 crore ($110 million) to build a lubricants manufacturing plant at the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation’s Isambe Industrial Area in Raigad, the company said.
Once operational, the plant will have the capacity to potentially manufacture 159,000 kl of finished lubricants annually to meet growing domestic demand from industrial sectors such as manufacturing, steel, power, mining and construction, as well as segments of commercial and passenger vehicles. It is expected to be operational by the end of 2025.

Maharashtra is among India’s largest manufacturing hubs and is a natural choice for our lubricants plant thanks to its attractive investment environment,” Monte Dobson, Principal Country Director of ExxonMobil subsidiaries in India said.
In a significant boost to the ‘Make in India’ initiative, the plant will locally source a larger portion of base stocks, additives and all packaging. Nearly 1,200 jobs are expected to be created during the construction phase.

The company is also a major supplier of liquefied natural gas in India and its chemicals are widely used in Indian manufacturing.
