Although there were no injuries, the driver was arrested, and charges are pending, officers said.
Seminole County Public Schools Communications Officer Katherine Crnkovich issued a statement following the crash, saying:
Dear Ram families and students,
I wanted to let you know about an incident in our parking lot that happened recently. It was brought to our attention that two students engaged in an incredibly reckless display of driving with one student driving a vehicle and the other on the roof of that moving car. This was not only incredibly dangerous for both parties, but also for those in or near the parking lot. The car crashed into another parked vehicle which subsequently damaged two other cars in the process. Police are on the scene and appropriate disciplinary action is being taken.
This behavior is not acceptable. This type of behavior can cause serious injury and damage to people and property and is unnecessary. If your child is a driver, take a moment to talk to them about the importance of vehicle safety, especially when driving on a school campus where other people are around.
Additionally, we encourage students who see something to speak up to protect those who could potentially end up injured or killed due to wrong decisions.
If you have any questions, please know that I am here to talk to you.
No information has been released about the identities of the students or what charges the driver will face.
