ROME – A 45-year-old man is accused of breaking the front windows of a barber shop on East Dominick Street and throwing a hard object at the windshield of a police cruiser, according to the Rome Police Department.
Police said Carlos M. Pabon, of Rome, used metal parts from vehicles to break three large front windows and the glass door of a barber shop in the 200 block of E. Dominick Street around 5: 30 in the morning of April 12. Police said Pabon also stole. a security camera.
Pabon was located and arrested soon after. Pabon is charged with third-degree burglary and petit larceny, police said. He was released on an appearance ticket in Rome City Court.
Around 11 a.m. Sunday, police said Pabon was caught on camera throwing a small object at a patrol car at the Rome Police Department on North James Street. The object caused a 2-inch impact on the windshield, with spider web cracks. The damage was discovered Monday morning, and police said Pabon returned to the parking lot later Monday, where he was arrested.
Pabon is charged with third-degree criminal mischief for the damage to the police cruiser, authorities said. He is scheduled to appear in court in both cases.
Investigations into similar incidents of vandalism are also ongoing, police said, and more charges are possible.
