A vehicle crashed into a Raleigh family’s home Saturday morning while they were sleeping.
The incident happened around 4:30 a.m. on Battle Bridge Road and was caught on the family’s security camera.
Footage shows the driver trying to avoid hitting several trees in front of the family’s home. A man then gets out of the vehicle and spins on the ground after the car crashes into the house and comes to a complete stop.
Owners Elisha and Matt remember the moment they heard the crash.
“My first thought was just the kids and making sure they were OK,” Elisha said.
The video also shows the excessive damage done to the house.
“It’s something that no one ever thinks about what happened to him, but every now and then you see cars crashing into houses on the news,” Matt said. “Although we never thought it would happen to us.”
Police are still investigating the cause of the incident.
No one was hurt and the family had to live elsewhere.
WRAL is working to find out if charges are pending against the driver.
