The Fulton Rotary Club is hosting an upcoming Poker Run event sponsored by several local Rotary clubs.
The Poker Run will raise money for Rotary charities, including Therapy Paws and K-9s on the Front Line, according to a release.
Therapy Paws’ mission is to “provide and coordinate with canine handlers to use trained therapy dogs to assist traumatized children and at-risk youth experiencing extreme stress and anxiety.”
K-9s at Front Line provides certified and trained service dogs to military veterans affected by post-traumatic stress disorder and/or traumatic brain injury.
Five Rotary Clubs unite for the Poker Run. In addition to Fulton, the other clubs include Columbia South, Rocheport, Boonville and Jefferson City Evening.
The event will be on May 13. Registration is at 9:30 and departure is at 10:00. A light breakfast is provided.
He will start at Head Motor Company (5708 Freedom Drive) in Columbia. From there, additional stops will include Rocheport, Boonville, Jefferson City and finally Fulton.
At each stop, runners will collect stamps. At the final stop in Fulton, runners will draw a hand of cards. The participant with the best poker hand wins.
There will also be a car show at the final stop, Ohana Pizzeria (61 West 2nd Street). Prizes will be awarded for the best motorcycle, car, jeep and truck. There will also be an audience choice award and an overall winner of the show.
The band “Hot Mess” will perform at the show from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m
To register for the Poker Run, visit Fultonrotary-mo.org. The cost is $20 per person. Participation is not limited to the driver, as every person in a vehicle can play.
Car show registration can also be completed on the Fulton Rotary website. Registration is $20 per vehicle.
Registration for both events must be done by 8am on May 12th.
