April 14: Two people have been arrested in connection with a fatal car crash east of Colorado Springs, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department.
On Feb. 8, a multi-vehicle pedestrian crash occurred at the intersection of Fountain Boulevard and Jetwing Drive, resulting in the death of one pedestrian, Joseph Rector, 55, of Colorado Springs. The CSPD Major Crash Team investigation revealed that the crash was the result of the drivers of the two vehicles that struck Rector driving carelessly and well over the speed limit, police said.
Caleb Zarkovacki, 23, of Colorado Springs, was arrested April 11 on charges that included careless driving resulting in death and exceeding the speed limit, police said.
Two days later, on April 13, the second driver involved in the crash, 23-year-old Colorado Springs resident Kyle Rolfson, was charged with the same charges as Zarkovacki, police said.
