“Showcase” or “Showcase” or whatever it’s called at any given time is something you see on YouTube. And this is a beast that always wants fresh content. So let’s be fresh and controversial.
Working from a suggestion from a WS viewer (nobody here dares claim to be a “fan”), the Car and driver The panel was tasked with finding a car on the internet around which to build a YouTube presence that would attract millions of eyeballs, lead to the establishment of another car auction site, and then translate into massive wealth when Peter Chernin throws money at him. Hey, it happened once. It can happen again.
Join senior editor Elana Scherr (who already has a YouTube channel called “Challengeher”), executive editor KC Colwell (whose channel would include a cow tip), blessed contributor Jonathon Ramsey ( who earns his love), to Editor-in-Chief Tony Quiroga (from the top of Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs) and the totally tertiary John Pearley Huffman (preemptively banned by YouTube before uploading a video) in a challenge which allows to fly up to 30,000 dollars.
Among the cars mentioned: a designated Porsche model larger than a 913 but not quite a 915. A Frankenstein mash-up of Lincoln and Lamborghini, which is crazy but alphabetically compatible. An old nearby truck from a company that has long since died. Either a Suzuki dump truck or an Autozam, depending on the moment. And a Fisker, chosen by some madman.
Senior Editor
John Pearley Huffman has been writing about cars since 1990 and he’s good at it. Besides Car and driverhis work has appeared in News from New York and over 100 automotive publications and websites. A graduate of UC Santa Barbara, he still lives near that campus with his wife and two children. He owns a couple of Toyota Tundras and two Siberian Huskies. I used to have a Nova and a Camaro.
