April 14 – MINOT – Two drivers were taken to a Lewiston hospital Friday afternoon after a Jeep and pickup truck collided head-on on Routes 11/121 near the Minot Country Store.
Police said Maureen Mooney, 62, of Poland, was driving her 2018 Jeep southbound on Minot Avenue when her vehicle collided with a 1989 Chevrolet pickup driven by David Madore, 40, of Auburn .
Madore had been heading north and making a left turn onto East Poland Road when the collision occurred, according to Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office officials investigating the crash. Early indications were that Madore had swerved in front of Mooney’s Jeep, police said.
Neither driver had passengers.
Mooney and Madore were taken to a Lewiston hospital to be evaluated for injuries described as non-life threatening.
Firefighters from Auburn and Mechanic Falls attended the scene.
Police diverted traffic around the crash site as victims were treated and cleanup began. The road was reopened a short time later.
