Finnish technology group Wärtsilä has been contracted by 3R Petroleum to operate the power modules on board its floating production, storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel operating at the Papa Terra field in Brazilian waters.
In addition, Wärtsilä said it has also signed a five-year optimized maintenance agreement with 3R Petroleum to ensure the reliability and performance of the facility.
3R Petroleum has bought the oil field from Petrobras, with whom Wärtsilä had a previous agreement. The FPSO vessel has three power modules, each with two Wärtsilä 50DF dual fuel engines.
Under the new contract, Wärtsilä said it will continue to have a crew on board to operate the modules 24 hours a day. For the optimized maintenance agreement, Wärtsilä will monitor engine performance remotely enabled by the cyber-secure connectivity solution. With dynamic maintenance planning, the time between overhauls can be optimized, which provides flexibility for scheduling maintenance, Wärtsilä said.
“We are pleased to have Wärtsilä as a skilled and experienced partner in the operation and maintenance of this FPSO. We believe they are clearly the most qualified company for this project and look forward to working with them,” says Humberto Romanus, Director of 3R Petroleum facilities.
“We have been involved with this ship from the beginning, when it was owned by the Petrobras group. We are very happy to continue this cooperation with the new owners,” explains Carlos Mikus, Lifecycle Sales Director at Wärtsilä.
Wärtsilä’s optimized maintenance agreements provide long-term cost predictability and asset availability, the company’s statement says, adding that data-driven maintenance is used at all stages, from planning to execution Experts at Wärtsilä centers of expertise provide proactive support to optimize maintenance intervals and avoid unscheduled downtime, the company’s statement continues.
