RAWALPINDI: The Punjab Police Department has decided to purchase the required lubricants and oils for its vehicles directly from the manufacturers.
The move came after the various police units, while buying lubricants and oil, compromise on quality and standard to procure them at a lower price.
According to sources, the decision was taken at a police executive council meeting, held recently with Additional Inspector General of Police (Welfare and Finance) Punjab in the chair.
The Deputy Inspector General of Police (Telecom and Transport) informed the meeting that there are 129 units that procure lubricants and oils for police vehicles individually at their levels and it has been observed that different units while purchasing lubricants and oil compromise the quality/ standards of the same to buy them at low prices.
Hence, it was suggested that procurement of lubricant/oil can be centralized. After detailed deliberation and discussion, the President approved that the lubricants and oils required for their vehicles will be purchased directly from the manufacturers to save money and avoid malpractice, if any.
