Technip Energies has been awarded a contract by Shaanxi LNG Reserves & Logistics for the three million normal cubic meters per day Xi’An LNG emergency reserve and peak regulation project in China.
Technip Energies described the contract as “significant,” meaning the deal will be worth between $55 million and $275 million.
The contract covers the process design package (PDP), front-end engineering and design (FEED) and supply of key equipment for a single 0.8 million tonne per annum LNG train. It also covers technical services for construction, commissioning, commissioning and performance testing, Technip Energies said in a statement.
The plant will use AP-SMRTM liquefaction technology suitable for mid-scale LNG and will be driven by electric motors to reduce emissions, the statement said.
According to Technip Energies, it will be the world’s largest liquefaction unit with a single electric motor-driven mixed refrigerant compressor, therefore it will be a benchmark in terms of low-carbon LNG production.
“We are pleased that Shaanxi Yanchang Petroleum Group and Shaanxi Gas Group have once again trusted us after the successful Yangling LNG project awarded in 2012. This award strengthens our position in the mid-scale LNG market in China,” he say Loic Chapuis. SVP of Gas and Low Carbon Energies at Technip Energies.
“Being fully electric powered, this LNG plant will be a benchmark for low-carbon LNG in the industry and we are committed to bringing our LNG leadership and best execution to support our client in this important project. Chapuis added.
