APTOS – A 68-year-old Watsonville woman died after her car went down an embankment and crashed into the picnic area at Seacliff State Beach Saturday morning, officials said.
According to a statement from the California Highway Patrol, the woman was driving a 2018 Toyota RAV4 southbound on State Park Drive south of Santa Cruz Avenue in Seacliff State Beach at 8:23 a.m. For an unknown reason, the driver drove the vehicle. went down an embankment and crashed into the picnic area.
The driver was seriously injured and was taken by ambulance to the Dominican Hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead. The cause of the crash is under investigation and it is unknown if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
