A free update to Gran Turismo 7 adds five new cars and additional track designs.
Following last month’s high-profile PSVR 2 launch, Polyphony Digital will be adding five new cars to the free 1.31 update for Gran Turismo 7; Audi RS 5 Turbo DTM ’19, Porsche 959 ’87, Porsche Carrera GTS (904) ’64, Mazda 3 X Burgundy Selection and Toyota Alphard Executive Lounge ’18. Two new Nurburgring track layouts, Sprint and Endurance, are also available, with additional racing events. Here is the official description:
Presentation of two new designs for Germany’s ‘Nurburgring’. The “Endurance” course combines the “Nordschleife” and “Grand Prix” courses in a total course of 23,864 m in length. This challenging technical course takes a shortcut through the Grand Prix section to get back to the Nordschleife faster. This design has been famously used in races such as the Nurburgring Endurance Series (NLS). The ‘Sprint’ track takes a shortcut at turn 4 of the ‘Grand Prix’ circuit to form a short course of 3,629m.
Further away adjustments As for tire models, aerodynamics, suspension physics and more are also included. Support for 120fps on PS5 is also mentioned, but the text is unclear if this extends beyond standard PS5 mode and also applies when playing in PSVR 2. GT7 currently runs at 60fps on PSVR 2 with 120Hz refresh, so a boost to native 120fps would be an upgrade.
However, we tested the game today with the new patch installed and it still seems to run at 60fps reprojected at 120Hz, not native 120fps. However, we reached out to Sony for an official clarification, but have not received a response. We will update this article if we receive more information.
Gran Turismo 7 is now available exclusively on PSVR 2 and update 1.31 is now available.
