LOGAN – Three people were killed in a car crash in Logan Canyon Wednesday afternoon.
At 3:20 p.m., a southbound Kia Rio crossed into the northbound lanes and struck a Ford Excursion, the Utah Highway Patrol said. The 21-year-old woman driving the Rio and the 24-year-old man in the passenger seat were pronounced dead at the scene.
There were three other passengers on board the Rio, including an infant who was transported with serious injuries that do not appear to be life-threatening. The other two occupants were also transported, one by ground and one by air, and one has since died from injuries sustained in the crash.
The driver of the Ford was the sole occupant of the vehicle and did not appear to be seriously injured.
US 89 is closed near the crash site about 5 miles south of Bear Lake, Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Cameron Roden said. The road is expected to remain closed until at least 8 p.m
