CASPER, Wyo. – A diesel generator in questionable repair is to blame for a reported explosion and billowing smoke billowing from the roof of a downtown Casper building Monday afternoon, according to the city’s fire department.
Vigilant citizens called 911 to report the incident at 3:38 p.m., Casper Fire-EMS Engineer Dane Andersen told Oil City News in a statement.
Crews arrived at the two-story commercial building at North Beech and East First streets, where maintenance crews were servicing a diesel generator on the roof.
“No fire, no problem,” Andersen said. “Sounds like a stubborn/gelled diesel engine trying to start.”
All units cleared the scene while maintenance continues to work on the generator.
