Semco Maritime has been contracted to perform maintenance work on the 674-foot jack-up platform Noble Innovator. Work on the vessel, currently berthed in Aberdeen’s South Port, will be done in partnership with local supply chain companies, Semco Maritime said.
After maintenance, Noble Innovator will return to the North Sea to carry out BP’s decommissioning activity.
Upon the platform’s arrival in Aberdeen for a Special Periodic Survey (SPS), Semco Maritime has been engaged to provide a range of support services including project management, hull rebranding, quayside support, scaffolding and supply of blue-collar staff, the company said. in his statement.
“We are delighted to be part of this fast-changing project, working closely with our partners and suppliers to deliver a safe and efficient return of the innovator to the North Sea,” said Semco Maritime CEO, David Hutchinson.

“This project demonstrates that Aberdeen has the infrastructure and strong supply chain needed to support the energy market for many years to come,” he said, noting that as local engineering experts, Semco Maritime is well placed to support to similar projects in Aberdeen.
“This type of boat activity and projects would have happened before the city, often destined for a European port, able to cope with its requirements. With South Harbour, we can attract these types of projects which support local jobs and drive significant spend and investment into the local supply chain,” said Port of Aberdeen Chief Commercial Officer Roddy James.
South Harbor offers approximately 4,921 feet of deep water berthing (30 to 50 feet deep) and can accommodate vessels up to 985 feet in length. It also features large heavy-duty areas (1.5 tons per square foot) and 48.2 square miles of flexible space with expansive project areas.
There has been very high utilization of berths and dock operational areas during the phased opening of South Harbour, which began in July 2022, and construction is scheduled to be completed in the second quarter of 2023, according to the Semco statement .
