A driver crashed a stolen car into a downtown hotel early Thursday morning, causing extensive damage. It happened at the Courtyard by Marriott at 2nd and Main Streets, right across from the KFC Yum! Center just one day before it’s supposed to host big NCAA games. Clarksville police said they were trying to stop the car when they saw it going 90 mph. When the driver failed to stop, a pursuit began and went over the Clark Memorial Bridge. The vehicle lost control, police said, and then crashed into the hotel. Police say two juveniles in the car were taken into custody and taken to Norton Children’s with non-life threatening injuries. No one inside the hotel appears to have been injured, but workers declined to speak on camera. A tow truck driver at the scene said he was told he could not remove the car from the building until the building was first inspected to make sure it was stable. Police said the car was reported stolen out of Jeffersonville. That is expected to happen early Thursday.
