Marlon Humphrey is never quiet on social media. The Ravens star is often seen giving opinions on things like pizza preferences, airplane etiquette and college football.
On Thursday, he took aim at his fellow professional athletes. More specifically, he slammed NBA star Kawhi Leonard and his decision to drive a 1997 Tahoe. The shot is now causing quite a stir on social media.
Humphrey has been in the NFL for six seasons after a long college career at Alabama. The defenseman was a first-round pick in 2017 and, according to recent comments, likely used some of his signing bonus to buy a new car.
Humphrey was seen blasting Kawhi Leonard for driving a 20-year-old Chevy Tahoe despite earning an NBA salary.
Nothing humble about that. This is actually silly lol https://t.co/TktMLQJIV7

Leonard’s quote, which is actually from 2016, says, “It works and it’s paid off,” referring to the Tahoe. For some reason, it was recirculated this week, giving Humphrey a chance give your thoughts.
“This is really stupid.”
Social media erupted with reaction to the comment. Most disagree with Marlon Humphrey’s opinion.
Yes @kawhileonard you rode a Bronco, you’d be fine since you rode one for 20 yards. @marlon_humphrey #Silver spoon pic.twitter.com/y6IRzNFjIU

Many had the same answer. If it works, why change it?
I’ll never make as much as Kawhi or Marlon, but as long as a car gets me from point A to B I’m happy.

Even Green Bay running back Aaron Jones chimed in, saying that he, too, still drives his car from high school. Humphrey quickly responded by saying that the safety ratings should be reason enough to buy something newer.
Just based on car safety and updates since 1997 make it dumb https://t.co/6bbt4f7rII

Marlon Humphrey might not win that argument, but he’s unlikely to change his mind about it.
