G Krishnakumar takes over as CMD of Bharat Petroleum
New Delhi: Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) on Friday announced that G Krishnakumar has taken over as the company’s Chairman and Managing Director (CMD). Krishnakumar is an industry veteran with diverse leadership experience across businesses and functional domains in his 36-year journey at BPCL.
It has been at the core of BPCL’s pioneering work in revolutionizing the fuel retail industry in the country. He has led the organization’s customer-centric businesses in retail, premium fuels and has also been the one to introduce new technology and digital initiatives in the company, a first in the Indian oil industry.
Krishnakumar has developed and nurtured winning brands such as Petro Card, SmartFleet, Speed, In & Out, which have significantly contributed to BPCL’s differentiated customer value proposition in the market, reinforcing the Pure for Sure customer promise.
He is an electrical engineer from NIT (formerly Regional Engineering College), Tiruchirapalli and has completed his Masters in Financial Management from Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai.
Prior to his elevation to the board, as head of BPCL’s lubricants business, he led the aggressive growth of the MAK brand in domestic and international markets, and in expanding the product portfolio to cover industrial vehicles, agricultural, of passengers and new and emerging commercial. segments He also championed the expansion of the service dimension of the MAK brand – MAK Quik, for quick oil change for 2-wheelers, which has since been adopted by millions of customers.
