New car registrations in France rose in February by more than 9 percent year-on-year to 126,237, although sales are still well below previous years (like 172,438 in February 2019).
Meanwhile, sales of plug-in electric cars far outpaced the overall market and are gaining market share.
In accordance with Avere-Francesome 31,820 new plug-in vehicles were registered in France last month (up 31.5 percent year-on-year), including 30,088 plug-in passenger cars (up 30 percent), representing 23.8 percent of the market (vs. of 20.1 percent). One year ago).
We are particularly pleased to see how strong the all-electric car segment is. The number of BEV passenger registrations rose nearly 46 percent year-on-year to 19,595, accounting for 15.5 percent of the total market. Plug-in hybrids also increased, but only slightly: eight percent (10,493 cars).

The best-selling model in France is the Dacia Spring, an entry-level city car from the wider Renault group. It recorded 2,872 registrations in February and 4,783 so far this year.
The second most popular BEV in February was the Tesla Model Y (2,485), followed by the Peugeot e-208 (2,092) and the electric Fiat 500 (1,919).
So far this year, the top three BEVs in France are the Dacia Spring, the electric Fiat 500 (3,517) and the Peugeot e-208 (3,428), although the Tesla Model Y could join the club in March (he currently has 2,909 registrations under his belt).
