Kongsberg Digital has secured a five-year agreement with Shell Global Solutions International to digitize the latter’s global assets. Shell aims to achieve its goal by using Kongsberg’s digital twin technology.
The contract, which was signed in December 2022, is an amendment to the framework agreement signed in 2020, with a committed multi-asset deployment plan and more applications to enrich Shell’s industrial workspace and user experiences , Kongsberg said in a statement.
“Since we started working together two years ago, Shell and Kongsberg Digital have developed a strong partnership, which has enabled the digitization of large-scale operations, one that has enabled new and more sustainable ways of operating heavy assets for Shell’s global workforce,” he said. McArdle added that with this new agreement in place, the company is consolidating its position as a global leader in digitizing operations in the asset-heavy industry.

Kongsberg noted in its statement that its digital twin technology provides actionable information and automated workflows for optimized operations and facility management. This enables better decision-making, based on actionable data to ensure safer, more profitable and more sustainable operations, according to Kongsberg.
Building on a strong relationship, Shell and Kongsberg Digital have collaborated closely over the past four years on the digitization of energy sector assets, the statement said.
Expanding the scope of this strong collaboration, both parties said they look forward to continuing the development of this industrial workspace to optimize operations and value creation.
